KOH isn’t just a race; it's an off-road odyssey demanding both driver and vehicle to be at their peak. It's about steering through unpredictable terrain, scaling rocks, and surging across vast stretches of desert. Your SxS needs to be more than just robust; it needs the precision and durability that CA Tech's upgrades provide.
Gear Up with CA Tech: Performance Upgrades for the Win
When it's time to throw down on the trail, every component of your side-by-side should be built to handle the pressure. Here are the essential, heavy-duty, precision-engineered CA Tech upgrades to optimize your vehicle for peak performance:
Redefine durability with the CA Tech Can-Am X3 Front Bulkhead, crafted from 3/16" and 11 Gauge Steel. Born from our rigorous race testing and performance research, this bulkhead is a heavy-duty beast designed to withstand severe impacts and continuous stress. With improved bracing and a ridged design, it significantly strengthens the front end of your vehicle, ensuring it's battle-ready for the harsh terrains of Johnson Valley.
Elevate your vehicle's stability and handling with our control arms, laser-cut from HSLA steel and CNC bent for unmatched quality and precision. Designed to address and solve common weaknesses of OEM arms, these components not only boost durability but also enhance the bushing life by increasing the mounting size by 25%. TIVAR® bushings ensure a high resistance to wear and a longevity that outmatches standard options.
Navigate the rocks and rough terrain with confidence using our high clearance rods, the thickest on the market, ensuring strength and dependability. Crafted with a focus on both performance and affordability, these rods feature industry-leading FK Brand Spherical bearings for superior durability. Fully covered by a no-hassle, no BS Lifetime warranty, these rods are a testament to our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Our ball joints are engineered for extreme performance with unique adjustment and greasing features. Treated with state-of-the-art Nitride for wear resistance and reduced friction, these components are rigorously tested to withstand the harshest conditions. Sold in sets of uppers and lowers, they come with a full lifetime warranty, ensuring your vehicle's pivot points are always in prime condition.
Designed to absorb all the abuse the terrain can dish out, our trailing arms achieve maximum ground clearance and strength. With key features like 1/4" HSLA steel base plate and 11 gauge HSLA top cap, these arms retain all OEM geometry while adding the significant clearance and strength you’ll need to cut through the KOH course.
Upgrade your SxS’s weak points with our heavy-duty tie rods, machined from the same Billet aircraft-grade hex aluminum as our radius rods. A solid 4140 Chromoly connection point on the knuckle side replaces the factory taper bushing, offering a robust solution for extreme riders.
Say goodbye to the noisy and often breakable factory links with our solid 6061 Aluminum billet sway bar links. Standard with FK brand COM10 bearings, they offer superior strength and longevity while eliminating noise, rounding off your vehicle's performance enhancements with a focus on both durability and comfort.

]]>Winch Bumpers and Pull Plates
Getting stuck is always a fun adventure up to the point where it’s not fun at all anymore. If you find yourself stuck in the snow, that time can come a lot faster than you think. It can also get dangerous to be stuck out in the cold. The best way to handle it is to have the right tools at hand to get unstuck as quickly as possible.
Having a winch on board is a great way to get unstuck in a pinch. Our Polaris RZR Pro R and Turbo R bumper is a great way to keep your rig safe and protected, and still allow for a winch in the times when you need it. Bolting it on is straightforward, and leaves space for most UTV winches.
If winching isn’t an option, and you have to lean on a friend (or even a nice stranger) to help you out of a predicament, you’ll want to have a good Pull Plate, like our RZR BAMF Pull Plate ready to rock on your side-by-side. The modular design accepts a tow hook, a tow loop, and a hitch receiver - allowing you to adjust based on the recovery tools you use most, or what’s handy at when you need to rely on it.
You don’t want to spend hours stuck on the trail, and you definitely don’t want to spend hours stuck in the snow. Get ahead of it, and be ready for what the winter season brings.
Battery Trays and Isolators
There’s no better time to throw a bigger battery in your rig than before your first winter trip. Cold weather can really pull the power out of your battery when it sits, and cold starts don’t make it any easier. CA Tech underhood battery trays and isolators will help to ensure you’ve got power on demand when it’s time to get going. The isolators will help you maintain power levels, no matter the conditions. Don’t get stuck at camp when it’s time for fun. Make sure you’ve got the power to get the party started.
Storage Solutions
Keeping everything stowed safely can be a great key to a good time on the trails, no matter the weather. Stow extra layers, hand warmers, jumper boxes, and more in your Packouts, and then use our CA Tech Packout Racks to keep everything you might want when you’re out on the trails. Maybe it’s an extra thermos of hot coffee on those early mornings, or maybe it’s backup blankets you keep on hand in case of a true emergency.
Speaking of which - when you’re talking about winter riding, it’s extra-important to keep some first aid supplies and your 10 Essentials handy. The last thing you need is to be hurt, without cell service, in the middle of nowhere, with the sun getting low, and a chill in the air. Plan ahead, pack up, and load those packouts up without worrying about how to keep your stuff contained.
Door Panel Inserts
If you’re out slinging mud and snow, you’re bound to wind up a little bit soggy if you don’t plan ahead. Add some RZR PRO XP door inserts from CA Tech, and you can keep the moisture on the outside of your rig. If you’re not in a snowy climate, it’ll help to keep the wind chill down, too. No matter where you wheel, there’s no easier change to make to your ride to maximize your comfort when you’re out on a chilly trail.
Apparel
Lastly, we can’t miss the opportunity to talk about layering up before you head out for the winter trails. If you’re lucky, a CA Tech Hoodie is all the winter wear you need, but for most of us, it’s just a great start to layering up when it’s time for some winter riding.
Throw in a hat to help keep the heat in when you don’t have a helmet on, and you’re out of your side-by-side. Like the saying goes, “stay warm, ain’t gotta get warm.” That is the saying, right?
Keeping your rig running it’s best and looking great and when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. Give us a call at 423-790-0230 or shoot us an email at sales@catechusa.com - we got your back.
]]>Level 5 Suspension Kit - If You’re Ready to Get Wild
If you’re looking for more suspension, we’ve got options all the way up to our Level 5 Suspension Kit, which includes the double shear gusset kit, Gen 2 pull plate, high clearance radius rod set, tie rods, rear sway bar links, upper and lower control arms, 300M upper and lower ball joints, and upgraded trailing arms. Bigger wheels and tires, more weight, harder trails - whether you’re hitting the race course and need to meet the demands of the competition, or you’re just looking to challenge yourself - these upgrades will allow you to tackle anything that comes your way. And, like almost everything else we make - we can customize the color scheme, too. You’ll get major upgrades in both form and function. All that’s left to do is install and hit the trail.
Or Level 1 through 4 - If You’re Keeping it Mild
If you’re not quite ready to crack into the level 5 kit, don’t worry - we’ve got kits starting at Level 1, and plenty of individual components that will help you get your rig in order. No matter what you’re working with when it comes to budget, or willingness to abuse your rig in pursuit of a good time, CA Tech Suspension Components can help you get on the trail and help you perform better than ever.
CA Tech Front Double Shear Bulkhead
One of the big issues that’s plagued Can Am X3 riders for years now is differential mounting plates have a tendency to crack and then break away from the frame. The CA Tech Double Shear Front Bulkhead was born from this problem. To solve the problem, we’ve worked hard to develop a tab and slot front end that encapsulates the frame and ties the front and back together, preventing stress and fatigue on your factory frame.
While no one plans to wreck, it does happen, and when you’re racing, it gets even more likely. The harder you run, the harder a potential impact. That’s why we’ve engineered our Double Shear Front Bulkhead to include a crumple zone to help absorb impact and protect both you and your ride in the event of a wreck.
CA Tech Rear Double Shear Bulkhead
With the Front Double Shear Bulkhead in place, the next step to keep your rig safe from extreme abuse is our Rear Double Shear Bulkhead. With both installed, you’ll have maximum rigidity, and minimum frame deflection to keep your side-by-side together. As an added bonus, the rear bulkhead helps your departure angle.
Keep in mind that bulkhead installation does require some fabrication to pull it all together. It might not be a bolt on component, but make friends with a fabricator (or we can help you find one), and you’ll be stoked with the results.
Upgraded Axles so you Don’t Get the Shaft
One of the first things you can do major damage to when you’re flying down the trails and eating up whoops in the desert is your axles. Thankfully, the RCV Pro Series II axle is a great place to start when it comes to upgrades for your Can-Am X3. With over twice the strength of the OEM axles, it’s a no-brainer to make the upgrade. .
They’re designed to take a beating, whether it’s on a muddy trail, or in the midst of long course endurance racing. Of course we’d recommend making the change preventatively, but if you’re here because you already broke an axle, might we suggest you make an upgrade before you go out and break the same parts…again?
Pull Plates to the Rescue
High risk means high reward…and sometimes, it just means highly stuck. One of the easiest and most appreciated upgrades you can make to X3 if you’re the kind of rider who likes to push their rig (or their driving skills) right to the ragged edge is our Can-Am X3 GEN 2 Pull Plate. Whether you need an easier tow when you’ve managed to really do a number on your rig, or you just need someone to jerk you back on the trail when you go a little too hard into a sloppy corner - we’ve got you covered.
Keeping your Can-Am X3 running it’s best and looking great and when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. ]]>CA Tech takes pride in empowering riders to personalize their UTVs, creating machines that match their individual preferences and needs. Customization goes beyond aesthetics; it's about enhancing performance, optimizing comfort, and ensuring your UTV is a true reflection of your personality. Let's dive into the customization possibilities that CA Tech offers to elevate your off-road experience.
riding a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV). Whether you're tearing through rugged trails or conquering challenging terrains, the right UTV can turn an ordinary weekend into an extraordinary adventure.
Consider the Color Options
When it comes to adding some color to your rig, it’s easy to just think about plastics and vinyl wraps, but the options are truly endless when you’re working with in-house fabrication and powder coating. Here at CA Tech, we can customize almost everything we make to fit your style.
For example, one of our most popular, easy to bolt-on modifications is our range of pull plates - especially the Polaris RZR BAMF Pull Plate line up, with its options for different attachments to meet every need when you’re on the trail. If you’re in a hurry to get your shipment on the way, we usually have a few color options available for pull plates on the shelf. If, however, you’ve got a couple of extra days before you’re headed to the trail, give us a call, and we can add powder coating in nearly any color. You can even mix and match the attachments for color-coding or to fit the rest of your livery.
The BAMF is extra-customizable, too - whether you’re looking to be a trailside hero with the power to pull friends out (with our tow hook, or tow loop), or you’ve got a deer stand to set up, and you need the tow hitch to get your camp setup for the winter - we can help you make your side-by-side work exactly the way you need. You can even switch it up between trips. Deer hunting in the winter, trail hero in the summer - the options are yours, with our handy attachments.
The same powder coating timeline works for most of our suspension components. It’s just one of the major perks of true American manufacturing - we can get exactly what you want, before it even leaves our shop.
Suspension Upgrades
And speaking of suspension upgrades, there’s no better way to upgrade and customize your ride. Whether you’re looking for looks, with a big lift and room for beefy tires, or the ride performance to tackle the trails at speed, we can do that!
Starting with the CA Tech Level 1 Suspension Kit, you’ll get the basics covered. Level 1 includes front limit straps, our double shear gusset kit, the Gen 2 Pull Plate, and a set of high clearance radius rods. After install, you’ll have more strength and durability out of your rig, without having to worry about breaking the bank in the process.
If you’re looking for more, we’ve got options for suspension all the way up to our Level 5 Suspension Kit, which includes the double shear gusset kit, Gen 2 pull plate, high clearance radius rod set, tie rods, rear sway bar links, upper and lower control arms, 300M upper and lower ball joints, and upgraded trailing arms. Bigger wheels and tires, more weight, harder trails - whatever you want to throw at your rig - these upgrades will allow you to take on the challenge. And, like everything else we make - we can customize the color, too. You’ll get major upgrades in both form and function. All that’s left to do is install and hit the trail.
Keeping things Comfortable and Convenient
Long rides demand comfort, and when it comes to side-by-sides, that can mean a lot of different things. You can add heating, sound systems, swap out your seats - but what about handling the basics - like not letting mud, water, and snow in your rig?
We can help with that in one huge way - with our line of RZR PRO R CA Tech Mud Guards. They’re designed to fit neatly inside the gaps of your door, and keep mud and debris from slinging right into the rig at your legs. Not being muddy is a great thing year round, but if you’re a winter wheeler? Mud, rain, and snow all over you, combined with the airflow in a moving rig gets uncomfortable at best, and dangerous at worst. It’s an easy upgrade that won’t take any cutting or drilling. You can thank us later.
The Little Things that Make a Big Difference
If you’re familiar with the Packout System from Milwaukee, you know how handy it can be. Finding safe ways to lock down and secure everything you need is awesome, especially when you’re in the tight quarters that side-by-sides can present. CA Tech Packout Racks have the modular functionality to help you bring along what matters most to you when you get behind the wheel - whether it’s a better way to pack snacks for kids in the backseat, or tools to help you when you’re out on a long adventure. The combination of our racks and Packouts give you a huge range of options to get what you need.
Keeping your rig running it’s best and looking great and when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. Give us a call at 423-790-0230 or shoot us an email at sales@catechusa.com - we’ve got your back!

]]>Why Sidewall Slugs Are a Must-Have For Every Side-By-Side Rider.
Now, you might be wondering, "What the heck are sidewall slugs, and why do I need them?"
Picture this: you’re deep in the heart of the woods, all signs of civilization are miles away, it’s just you and the trails. Suddenly, your carefree ride is disrupted by an unmistakable hissing sound. You hope to hell it’s just a puncture but that’s not the case. You've got a sidewall tear. You probably don’t have to imagine it - we’ve all been there: bad line choice, a rock you couldn’t see, or an old stump lurking around a corner waiting to ruin your day.
If you don't have a sidewall slug handy, you're stuck - or you’re limping out to the trailhead, likely destroying a wheel for good in the process. With these bad boys in your storage box, you can confidently tackle any trail, knowing that you're prepared for the unexpected, even when it means a torn sidewall.
So, why are these little wonders a must-have for every SxS enthusiast?
Simply put, they're your tire's first aid. Consisting of two plastic disks - one slips inside the tear, one fits on the outside, and a cinch-up bolt, they're designed to temporarily patch sidewall tears up to 1.5 inches. While they aren't a permanent fix, sidewall slug repair kits can be a game-changer when you're out in even the roughest terrain. Just remember, because of the way that they work, they’re inclined to leak at lower pressures, so aim for the higher end of your tire’s recommended pressure range.
Now, here's how the whole Sidewall Slug process works:
We can’t skip over one major point, though - the best way to use sidewall slugs is to not use them at all – by not tearing your sidewall. Regular tire inspections, proper inflation levels, and cautious driving can minimize the chances of sidewall damage. Even with sidewall slugs in your arsenal, the goal is prevention over cure. Always be aware of your tire's condition and when it's time to consult a professional.
Even the Best Technology Has Limits
If the puncture is too severe or the sidewall is damaged beyond repair, don't attempt to use sidewall slugs. It's essential to recognize when a tire needs professional attention.
So, gear up, be prepared, and know when you hit the trailhead that you can conquer those off-road challenges with confidence. With sidewall slugs by your side (or in your storage box), you're ready for anything the trail throws your way. No matter what side-by-side you decide is right for your adventures, we’ve got the experience you need to keep it on the trails, and real ways to make it better.
Keeping your rig running great when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. Lift Kits: The Brutes of the SxS World
Lift kits are the king of the side-by-side world. These kits literally lift your rig higher off the ground, and they come with their own set of pros and cons.
Pros and Cons of Lift Kits for Side-by-Sides

Pros and Cons of SxS Spring Kits: The Functional Hero
Let's start with spring kits, the true heroes of SxS suspension upgrades. These kits replace your factory springs with custom-tailored springs designed to meet your specific needs. Here are some of the pros:
Now, don't think for a second that spring kits are without their own downsides:
Ongoing Maintenance: A Necessary Evil
Now, let's talk about the ongoing maintenance for both spring kits and lift kits because even the mightiest rig needs some occasional TLC. The more you build your rig, the more you have to pay attention to the maintenance. As they say, with great power (or suspension performance) comes great responsibility.
Maintenance For SxS Spring Kits:
Maintenance for SxS Lift Kits:
In the battle of spring kits vs. lift kits for your side-by-side UTV, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. It all boils down to your riding preferences and how you want your ride to perform.
Spring kits are the subtle, refined choice, offering improved ride quality, better handling, and customization options without breaking the bank. They're also kinder to your rig’s drivetrain, leading to fewer ongoing maintenance headaches. On the other hand, lift kits can be the bold, attention-grabbing option, providing serious ground clearance, style points, and the ability to conquer the toughest terrains. However, they come with handling challenges and can be costlier in the long run.
Remember, whether you choose a spring kit or a lift kit, make sure you're investing in top-notch products from CA Tech. Your SxS deserves nothing but the best. So, get out there, upgrade your suspension, and let your rig reach new heights – or experience smoother rides – because, after all, it's all about dominating the trails.
Keeping your rig running it’s best and looking great and when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. This part’s easy - find one at any hardware store, or even your local Walmart. Congratulations, you’re halfway to success. We’re fans of the whole, “work smarter not harder” thing but if you wanna go ahead and skip the sprayer, a large bucket will do the trick. Just get ready to use those muscles a bit more.
2.Gather Your Supplies
The basic ingredients for the perfect booty juice are: Purple Degreaser, Tide laundry soap, and water. Yep, that’s it. What you’re gonna do is grab that sprayer (or your bucket) and add in 20 ounces of the degreaser, 20 ounces of the tide, and then top off the mix with water. Look at you go - you’ve got a gallon of the finest Booty Juice in the land, mixed up and ready to go.
3.Get to Spraying!
Soak your entire rig with the magic of Booty Juice - and then let it sit. This mixture is the perfect pre-wash, and you’ll be ready to spray it off in as little as 5 minutes. That’s plenty of time to get the hose hooked to your power washer and maybe grab a cold one.
Once it’s had a chance to soak in (again, at least 5 minutes), grab your pressure washer, and rinse the whole thing down. Unless you’ve got your ride reallllllllll dirty, or you let it get crusty, you should have a rig ready for storage at this point.
4. Don’t Stop at the Booty Juice - Get Into the Art of Detailing
We said your rig is ready for storage, and technically you could just skip to that step, but since you already started the cleaning process, why on earth would you skip the chance to give that SxS a good hand cleaning? Especially with the time you just saved with your new favorite post-trail pre-soak.
Use a mild soap or SxS-specific cleaning solution to scrub the vehicle's surfaces and remove any last bits of stubborn, stuck-on mud from all the nooks and crannies - just make sure you’re using a soft brush or sponge to avoid scratching the paint or plastics. After that, thoroughly rinse off the soap to prevent any residue buildup.
5. Clean Up Your Wheels
If your wheels have intricate designs or hard-to-reach areas, consider using a dedicated wheel cleaner to ensure a thorough cleaning. Rinse the wheels to remove any residual cleaning agents, which can cause streaking or corrosion over time. Make sure you dry the wheels too using a clean microfiber cloth to prevent water spots.
Detailing is all about the little things that make a big difference. The Booty Juice should’ve handled most of it, but if you need to, use a specialized side-by-side or dirt bike cleaner to target tight spaces. Thoroughly rinse with a hose or pressure washer, ensuring that all cleaning agents are removed. Not only does going through all this work make your rig look great, but it also makes sure you’re laying eyes on every inch of your SxS after you put it through its paces in the dirt. It’s not a perfect system, but the odds are great that you’re not going to miss the beginning stages of potentially major damage or wear.
6.Dry it Down and Seal it Up!
Use a clean and absorbent microfiber or chamois cloth to wipe down all interior and exterior surfaces, including the body, seats, and any exposed metal components. Pay special attention to areas where water can pool. Open doors, hatches, and other compartments to allow trapped moisture to escape. Using compressed air can help remove water from hard-to-reach places like vents and around your engine. Not only does taking this extra step prevent water spots and corrosion, but it's a little bit of extra insurance that you’re not letting water pool around sensitive electrical components, protecting them from potential damage.
Once your rig is dry, apply a UV-protective spray to any plastic or rubber components to prevent fading and cracking, and to give your ride that “just washed” sparkle. This is a great time to lubricate moving parts, such as hinges, cables, and chains. Spraying that degreaser can ruin a careful maintenance habit so take a quick look at critical areas like the air filter and brakes for any signs of debris. A solid post-trail cleaning routine not only keeps your side-by-side looking its best but also ensures its functionality and longevity, so it can be ready for your next adventure.
No matter what side-by-side you decide is right for you, we've got the experience you need to keep it moving, and real ways to make it better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. Let's kick things off with a golden rule: stick to the marked trails. These trails are there for a reason - to protect the environment and keep everyone safe. Off-roading in undesignated areas can cause irreversible damage to the ecosystem and wildlife, not to mention the potential danger to you and others. Venturing off the designated trails isn’t worth the risk for a number of reasons, and honestly, shouldn’t even be up for discussion but just in case you’re ever tempted, remember that not all states require drivers to register their SxS or have insurance, medical costs add up quickly if you require those services, and let’s not even get into the bill you could get if you end up in a spot where an emergency wilderness rescue team needs to be deployed. This leads nicely to our next point.
2…and Know Whose Land You’re On
Are you trespassing? Are you sure? What about BLM land versus national parks? State parks versus state forests? It’s important to know whose land you’re on. Trespassing is a quick way to wind up in legal trouble, or worse. When it comes to public land, that can be really important, too. The rules change (speeds allowed, kinds of vehicles allowed, etc.). Riding on the wrong trails, at the wrong speeds, with the wrong set-up could result in anything from a ticket or fine, to having your rig impounded, and in some cases, you could find yourself behind bars. In the desert, for example, there’s all kinds of protected land that’s used by the military. Running across the feds because you weren’t paying attention and found yourself on an Air Force practice range is not only scary (we’ve heard…), but it’s a quick way to ruin a great trip.
Know where you’re headed, and don’t be afraid to use an app like OnX to manage your maps, and make sure you’re allowed to be wherever you are. We all know someone who’s notorious for “I ride here all the time, it’s fine!” If the signs say no, then don’t go.
3.Respect the Right of Way (aka Wait Your Turn)
Just like on the road, the off-road trails have rules about who gets the right of way. Generally, the vehicle heading uphill has the right of way over those heading downhill. Sometimes this will change when people are waiting for their group to catch up, or taking a break, and they’ll let you know. Don’t assume that’s happening, though - yielding to other drivers will help prevent accidents and keep the trail flowing smoothly, especially during peak riding seasons.
4. Know Your Hand Signs
Responsibly traveling off-road means traveling in groups. When you come across another rig - truck, bike, or otherwise, you can expect there to be more people behind them. The first one in the group will probably wave to get your attention, and then hold up fingers to tell you how many people are in his group. 3 fingers? 3 total rigs. The last one in a group will likely hold up a fist to tell you he’s the last one. Maybe he wants a fist bump, though! Either way, knowing how to communicate with other riders is essential to keeping everyone safe on the trails.
5. Keep Your Speed in Check
Yes, side-by-sides are built for speed and excitement, but that doesn't mean you should treat every trail like a racetrack. Ever notice what happens when someone drives their sportscar 100 mi/hr in a 50 mi/hr zone? Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. You should have a route mapped out before you go, and be sure to check your speed limits. Like roads, different trails are set for different speeds and few are posted. In some areas, they’re heavily enforced too. Going too fast not only increases the risk of accidents but also kicks up a ton of unnecessary dust that can hinder visibility for other drivers. Save the stunt driving for the track.
6. Mind Your Dust
Speaking of dust, this is a big one! When you're tearing up the trail, it's easy to create a cloud of dust that can limit visibility for you and fellow drivers. Always reduce your speed when passing others and consider installing dust screens if your ride doesn't have them already. On the same note - don’t run up the back of the SxS in front of you. It limits stopping time and maneuverability, chokes your air filter out, and forces you to breathe that dust in. All around a bad time, 10/10 do not recommend.
7.Leave it Better than you Found It
This one's pretty simple: whatever you bring onto the trail, take it back with you. Leave no trace behind. This includes parts, clothing items, food wrappers, bottles, cans, and trash in general. While you’re cleaning up your camp, take out any other trash you might happen across. Keep the habitats and trails clean for everyone to enjoy.
8. Respect Nature and Wildlife
Remember, you're a guest in the wilderness. Keep noise levels down, and avoid disturbing wildlife. Stick to the trails to minimize your impact on their habitats, and never approach or feed animals. Staying on the trail is really important, on this point, too - especially if you’re in the desert, versus the woods. Off-trail “scarring” is a real problem - it can take centuries to resolve (seriously - there are scars in the Mojave from the westward bound wagon trains).
One of the biggest issues facing off-roaders, but especially side-by-side owners, is legislation around trail accessibility and public land. Tearing up trails, leaving trash, and generally being a menace is a great way to give ammo to the people who don’t want you to enjoy your public land. All it takes is a few…bad apples…to ruin it for everyone so do your part to help offset the negatives.
9. Be Prepared
Off-roading can be unpredictable. Mechanical issues or sudden weather changes can throw a wrench in your plans. Always carry basic tools, a first aid kit, and enough supplies to last at least a day or two in case you get stranded.
10.DO NOT STOP ON THE TRAIL!
We thought about calling this tip “Use Turnouts to Stop” but it’s too important to risk any miscommunication. We cannot stress this enough, If you need to make a stop, pull over in designated turnouts or wider sections of the trail. Coming to a halt on the trail and blocking the path for other drivers can not only cause congestion, it can also be incredibly dangerous for everyone involved. It’s really simple if you think about it, if someone just slams on their breaks and parks their car on the road, it affects everyone around them, right? Do this around a corner, or over a hill? You’re just asking for a collision. In the unfortunate event your rig gives up mid-ride, work quickly to move it off the path and have a member of your crew go back and keep an eye on the trail to communicate with any other drivers what’s happening up ahead in order to keep everyone safe until the issue is resolved.
No matter what side-by-side you decide is right for your adventures, we’ve got the experience you need to get on the trails and real ways to make your SxS even better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. ]]>We hope this one isn’t news to you but if it is, listen up. Your side-by-side can’t survive indefinitely on dirty oil. It’s a vehicle, and like any other car, bus, train, plane, or automobile- if it takes fluids, it’s going to need a top-up or a full change eventually. Think of changing the oil as giving your ride a spa day. Set aside some time, get yourself some fresh oil and a new filter, and get to work. If you’re new to working on your own stuff don’t stress, this one’s pretty easy to manage and there’s a slew of “how-to’s” on YouTube. If you’re not ready to take on the task yourself, you can always call up your local off-road maintenance and repair shop to have it taken care of. Either way, make sure to check your owner’s manual for the specifics on how often the oil should be changed, what filter you need, and what type of oil is right for your rig. While you’re at it, check your diff fluid, too. Make sure you’re free of debris, sludge, and anything that could indicate bad wear - like glittery oil.
Just like you, your rig needs air to survive, so don't smother it. The air filter is like your ride's lungs, and if it's clogged, you're asking for trouble. If you’ve got a washable filter, make sure to follow the instructions and use the right cleaning products. We always appreciate the effort, but by not taking the time to double-check what’s best, you can end up with a filter that looks clean but ends up compromised. For example, some air filters won’t work properly if you use water, while others will break down if you use compressed air. If you’ve got a replaceable filter you won’t have to worry about which products are safe, but you may need to deal with supply and demand. We recommend keeping an extra filter or two on hand just in case. You don’t want to miss out on a chance to ride because you have to spend time tracking down a filter when your local store doesn’t have what you need in stock. It may not seem like all that big a deal but more air means more power; and let's be honest, who doesn't want more power?
Let's talk about the real heroes of your side-by-side build – the joints and bearings. These bad boys take a beating out there on the trail, so you’ll want to keep them performing as well as the day they were installed. Some of the key components that should be greased regularly include the U-joints in the drivetrain, steering components such as ball joints and tie rod ends, suspension components like bushings and pivot points, and wheel bearings. These parts are subjected to constant movement, stress, and exposure to varying conditions, making proper lubrication crucial. By applying a manufacturer-recommended grease to these components, you reduce friction, prevent corrosion, and extend the lifespan of your rig, ensuring that it continues to operate smoothly during all your off-road adventures. Regular greasing not only enhances overall performance but also makes sure you have a safe and fun riding experience.
You know what's worse than a bad day on the trail? A day that starts out well, and leaves you stranded miles from the trailhead because of fouled spark plugs. Those spark plugs are the heart of your engine, and if they're not firing, you're going nowhere fast. Spark plugs play a pivotal role in igniting the air-fuel mixture within the engine cylinders, which powers the vehicle. Regularly checking the spark plugs involves removing them from the engine and examining their condition. Signs of wear, such as erosion of the electrode and excessive carbon buildup, can indicate engine issues or improper fuel combustion. Replacing worn or fouled spark plugs with the manufacturer-recommended plugs, gapped correctly can optimize fuel efficiency and power.
If your rig’s belt is slipping, you're not just losing power – you're losing your dignity. It's like trying to climb a mountain wearing banana peels for shoes. Examining the belt on your SxS is a crucial aspect of its maintenance routine. Regular belt checks involve inspecting its tension, lubrication, and overall condition. A loose or overly tight belt can lead to inefficient power transmission and premature wear on clutches. It should roll smoothly when you’re in neutral, and the tension should be enough that you don’t feel any loose sections. If it’s loose enough that you practically pull it off the pulley, replace it. The fun will end pretty quickly if you’re stuck mid-ride trying to fix/replace your belt.
Batteries never die when it’s convenient, and there’s no crystal ball that can tell us when it’s going to happen but we can do our best to limit the chances. We would hope that you’re giving your SxS a circle check before heading off into the depths of the woods for hours on end with nothing but nature and no chance of a cell signal for miles, but make it a habit to add testing your battery to that list in order to avoid being stranded out there when your battery dies after a quick stop for a snack. By investing in a good battery tender, you'll have the confidence to explore every nook and cranny of those trails.
Some things on this list you can look back at and laugh about, but brakes are not one of ‘em. Inspect your brakes before you head out, and if they're looking worn, don’t risk trying to get a few more trips out of them. Your ride’s braking system is the difference between a great day on the trail, and totaling your rig when it meets a tree that came out of nowhere. The inspection process involves examining the brake pads or shoes for wear, assessing the brake fluid level and quality, and making sure you’ve got the proper brake lever or pedal feel. Any signs of reduced braking performance, such as sponginess, grinding noises, or longer stopping distances, should be addressed immediately. No matter how you use your rig, regular brake checks make sure your rig is safe and fun, whether you're traversing rough trails or handling everyday tasks on the farm. We’re all for wild rides but there’s a difference between silly and stupid. Risking yours and the safety of those riding with you all because you chose to ignore a potential brake issue, or worse, not even check for one, won’t have anyone singing your praises.
No matter what side-by-side you decide is right for your adventures, we’ve got the experience you need to keep it running through the trails and putting in the work with real ways to make it even better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great, shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. If you've ever watched the heart-pounding action of SxS racing and dreamt of being behind the wheel yourself, you're in for a wild ride. SxS racing is an amazing sport that pits drivers against challenging and beautiful terrains, offers intense competition, and allows racers to push themselves and their rigs to the limit. That all sounds exciting, and trust us, it is, but the real question for most people who haven’t grown up with a close friend or family member already in the sport is “How do I get started?” So, if you’ve been thinking about racing, good news - we’ve done it, and we can give you an inside look at how to build your own skillset and racing program. It’s not easy, or cost-effective but if you’re willing to put in the work, you can make it happen. Here’s a look into what it takes to go from recreational riding to the competitive arena.
Like any type of racing, you need to have the right equipment. You wouldn’t bring a donkey to a horse race or lace up with a pair of basketball shoes for a sprint. Before you can line up at the start for your first race, you need the right rig. The SxS you choose can have a major impact on your performance and enjoyment, especially if you’re going to need some time before you can dive into modifying and upgrading parts to make it your own. When you get to that step, CA Tech offers a massive range of parts built for battle.
To get started though, you’ll need to consider the rig’s suspension, and look for adjustable and robust components that can handle the rigors of off-road racing. A lightweight frame will help you stay nimble and fast - maximizing maneuverability for challenging courses. Keep an eye out for SxS models with a roll cage and other safety features that help you meet racing regulations. Customization potential is also crucial; once you get your feet wet, you’ll want the ability to fine-tune your set-up for specific race categories and conditions. We’d also recommend you don’t just look at the factory options - research the aftermarket support and availability of performance parts that will improve engine output, suspension, and handling. Lastly, consider your racing goals—whether it's desert racing, short course, or rock crawling— many side-by-sides are capable of tackling most terrains, but when it comes to gaining a competitive edge you’ll want to ensure you’ve given careful consideration to whichever models are designed with your category in mind and can provide the versatility needed to excel on the track.
Our top picks are the RZR Pro R, the Honda Talon 1000R, or the Can-Am Maverick X3. They’re all great choices, and we’ve got the racing suspension you need to support the wildest courses out there.
Now that you’ve picked the perfect rig for your needs, it's time to focus on your skillset. Raw talent won’t hurt but SxS racing demands a unique set of abilities that combine driving finesse with quick decision-making. You might be a skilled driver on regular roads, or maybe you have some experience in a more traditional form of racing, but off-road racing is an entirely different beast. Not only will you need to master the art of making tight turns and split decisions while maneuvering through crowded courses and fighting the elements, but you’ll also need to do it while flying through the air and at top speeds. Needless to say, it can be a little overwhelming if you’ve never done it before.
Seat time is essential and investing in professional training can make a world of difference when it comes to both your skills and your confidence behind the wheel. Spend some time looking into racing schools, training programs, or even open track days that offer courses specifically tailored to SxS racing. These programs can cover everything from proper vehicle control and line selection to understanding different terrains and mastering techniques like drifting and jumping. Most importantly, they offer seat time in the conditions you’ll actually race in - an invaluable experience to have before you level up to the real thing.
Safety should always be a top priority when you're pushing the limits in an intense racing environment and realistically, proper safety gear is non-negotiable in any series. That being said, it may be tempting to leave a few things off while practicing on your own but it’s always best to train wearing all of your gear. Not only will it keep you protected, but it will also enhance your confidence on the track. It may not seem like a big deal but the added layers on race day can cause a problem if you’re not used to riding in a full suit with gloves, and boots– each designed to provide maximum protection and safety while you navigate through hairpin turns and unpredictable terrain but can create a barrier between senses and reaction times if you’re not comfortable enough wearing it.
Unless you know all the right people in all the right places and you or someone supporting you has deep pockets, in the beginning, it’s likely that you’re going to be a one or two-man crew that’s made up of you and maybe a couple of buddies and that’s okay. The size of your team isn’t as important as the amount of support those few give you. Behind every successful racer is a dedicated team working behind the scenes and we’ve seen teams of 3 outperform teams of 13. Your mechanics and pit crew are the unsung heroes who keep your race rig running smoothly during races so it helps to have a few friends who know a thing or two about how to fix your set-up and keep you in the running when it counts.
You may be the one behind the wheel, but racing is 100% a team sport so who you have with you can make or break a weekend. It’s important to set your expectations too. You’re going to make mistakes, there will be parts you just can’t fix, and when terrain and conditions vary from track to track, some races are going to be harder than others. That being said, if you don’t have a full crew of specialists, you should spend time learning the basics in everything from engine tuning to suspension adjustments to limit how often those things happen.
Navigating Sponsorships: Showcasing Your Potential
We’d love to tell you that brands are just lining up, waiting to throw some funds your way but SxS racing isn't just about fast driving; it's also about making a name for yourself in the racing community. Before you go knocking on doors, cold calling business, and mass sending emails with a proposal attached, you’ll need to work on building a strong presence first. Gone are the days of offering a hood placement in exchange for hard cash. Attracting sponsorships can open doors to more opportunities and resources for your racing journey but you will need to spend the time and effort to establish your social media channels, develop a professional racing portfolio that highlights your achievements, skills, and potential, and lastly, network with brands at the events you attend. Get to know the vendors that are supporting races, and build relationships with the people who are around you because these are the people who are making the monetary decisions so if they like you, they could wind up supporting your program before you know it.
Bonus tip: You don’t have to win every race, you don’t even have to podium- if you can get the support and loyalty of the people with a social following that gets sponsors excited, you’re ahead of the game.
Starting your SxS racing career might feel overwhelming, but remember that every champion started where you are now. Although we love a “go big or go home” attitude, when it comes to racing, small steps are best. Gain valuable experience by signing up to participate in local off-road racing events and open-trail days to help you gauge your skills, identify weak points, and most importantly, connect you with the racing community.
As you gain confidence and build a track record of success, you can gradually move up to more competitive races, and seek out racing programs that support the next generation of racers.
Embracing the Journey: Passion and Perseverance
As the old saying goes, “The fastest way to get a million dollars racing is to start with two million.” Becoming a successful SxS racer isn't an overnight achievement, and it’s probably not a path to the bank account of your dreams; it's a journey that requires unwavering passion and relentless perseverance. You'll face setbacks, tough competition, and moments of self-doubt. However, it's your passion for the sport and the thrill of the race that will keep you going.
At CA Tech, we share that passion for off-road adventures and have made it our mission to manufacture parts that will support you in advancing your racing journey. When it comes to innovative components for side-by-sides, we’ve got your back.
No matter how you decide to use your side-by-side - be it fun family adventures or a full racing calendar, we’ve got the experience you need to keep it pushing, and real ways to make it better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great when you’re ready to step on the gas shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. Give us a call at 423-790-0230 or shoot us an email at sales@catechusa.com - we got you!

Quality Control
When “manufacturers” import parts from other countries, quality control can really become an issue. The sad reality is that most parts aren’t even opened and inspected before they’re shipped to you. In the best cases, they’ll open and check out your freshly imported components and do a quick once-over just to make sure nothing major stands out. In the worst cases, you can receive parts that don’t fit, aren’t welded or machined well, or may not even be the parts you ordered in the first place. Assuming you get what you asked for, there’s always a risk of reliability when you start putting them to the test on the trail.
When you buy CA Tech parts, we’re laying hands on your parts every step of the way. We have the chance to catch any issues at every stage of the process. Not just upon completion, but over and over again. Our name and reputation rely on delivering you the Suspension Components you need, with the superior quality and attention to detail that you expect.
American Jobs
We won’t even beat around the bush with this one; American jobs and the American economy matter to us. When you off-shore manufacturing to another, cheaper country, you’re losing an opportunity to participate in the growth and success of American companies. CA Tech, like most real American manufacturers, is a small business full of local employees. Buying SxS parts from us, means you’re helping our team to grow, improve, and innovate right here in the USA.
American Manufacturing Standards
American Manufacturing Standards are tough to meet and for good reason. We start with ensuring our raw materials are exactly what we say they are because not using the advertised materials to skimp on costs is not only bad for business, it’s illegal. You’d think that’s enough of a deterring factor for most companies but at the end of the day, that’s just not the case. For us, we’re not willing to compromise on our customer’s safety or the quality of our products just to save a few bucks.
Another plus for keeping our operations entirely USA-Based, aside from being held to higher safety standards, is that we can say with confidence that every member of our team is passionate about the parts they make because it shows in the final product we ship out. You can also take some comfort in knowing that we’re keeping our team safe and healthy with the best possible working conditions and that your SxS upgrades aren’t contributing to the sustainability of sweatshops, child labor, or inferior materials. When you choose CA Tech, you’re supporting quality parts made by highly-trained and skilled Americans who are always stoked to play a role in upgrading your ride.
Get What You Need, When You Need It
When parts are imported, they’re often thrown in containers and exported to the States on ships. That makes shipping times - especially when there are backorders - really tough to predict and control. Shipments can take months on a good day. Over the last few years, we’ve all seen what can happen when the ports back up, so what’s the plan? You can either find a company that makes what you’re looking for locally, or be prepared to wait, and then maybe wait some more.
We decided to take back some of that control for our customers to ensure we’ve got stock on hand, ready to send your way. Need it in a hurry? Maybe you’ve got a race this weekend, or you just want to hit the trails with your family ASAP. We get it, and we got you. Just give us a call, and we will work with you to make it happen with express shipping.
Warranties Matter
If you buy imported products, regardless of the price, and they break, we wish you the best of luck trying to claim that warranty. The unfortunate reality is that even if there’s a refund or a replacement guarantee on a website, the odds of success aren’t high. Always check the fine print but we wouldn’t wish that kind of stress on our worst enemies. At CA Tech we know we’ve got quality products, so we rarely see a warranty claim come through, but our lifetime guarantee means that if something goes sideways, we’ve got your back. Invest in quality parts the first time so you can spend your time riding your rig instead of fighting with regret.
Make it Custom
Want custom parts? Custom colors? That’s easy when you’re buying with CA Tech. We manage all the color matching and special requests here in-house, making sure that we can meet your needs. We’ve got a range of colors available all the time, but when you’re looking for something special, we can handle that too.
Trying to get the same quality finish on imported parts usually means you’ll need to invest even more time and cash to take your parts to a shop that offers powder coating or anodizing. That’s assuming you can find someone locally, and that the materials used by the manufacturer can even be modified. With so many variables to consider, there’s no guarantee that you’ll end up with something even close to what you were looking for.
“Made in the USA” is a Status on Its Own
Let’s be real - when it comes down to it, buying high-quality, American-made parts is just better than buying cheap parts manufactured elsewhere. American-made means maybe you spent a little more, sure, but also that you support your Country’s economy and you care about the quality of parts that improve your rig.
There’s respect attached to the way you build and maintain your ride and we build parts worthy of that respect while allowing you to add that custom touch, hassle-free.
No matter what SxS you’re planning to take into the wild, we’ve got real American-made parts to make it better, lighter, and stronger. The ultimate in American-made reliability from CA Tech can get you what you need when you need it. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know where to start, CA Tech has the experts on hand ready to answer all your questions. Give us a call at 423-790-0230 or shoot us an email at sales@catechusa.com - we got you!

The X3 sets the standard for a performance built SxS that’s ready to tear up the trails, no matter which version you go with. When it comes to all the submodels, abbreviations and letters tacked on to the names, things get a little messy, so let’s decode what you’re looking at, so you can make the right choice. Then we’ll get into our favorite ways to upgrade them.
DPS
Any X3 with a “DPS” attached to it comes with dynamic power steering from the factory. When it’s turned on, you get more power steering at lower speeds, and less, at higher speeds - that reactive steering makes it feel more intuitive, and it’s more responsive when you’re fighting resistance on the trails at low speeds.
Max
Taking more than one person on your adventures? You want a Maverick with the “Max” attached to its name. Max just means it’s a 4-seater.
X
Models with the X designation have a pretty incredible feature if you’re doing some more serious off-roading. They’ve got Can-Am Smart-Lok technology - meaning the rig can electronically lock your front diff while you’re moving (or trying to). With different modes you can select, the Smart-Lok system will progressively engage the locker by detecting your loss of traction, reading slip, and reacting accordingly.
XC
While all X3s are meant for time in the dirt or sand, the XC models are specifically designed for off-road time spent on wooded trails - narrower width means flying through the trees on your adventures
MR
MR models are built specifically for the mud, giving you the most traction and performance in especially slick conditions. They come with aggressive mud tires - the largest ones from the factory.
RC
RC stands for rock crawling, and you’ll get the right tires and suspension tuning to make it all happen.
DS
DS means “Desert Storm,” or maybe “Dune deStroyer.” They’re built for sand, complete with Can-Am’s Visco-Lok X limited slip diff, beadlock wheels, and Fox Podium 2.5 shocks with dual-speed compression and rebound adjustment. DS models are built with a standard 64” track width to maximize your suspension’s opportunity to work when you’re literally flying through the dunes.
RS
If DS is Desert Storm, RS is racing storm. It’s the bigger, more aggressive brother to the DS. More suspension travel, and a substantially wider track, at 72”. It’ll handle wilder and more uneven slopes, and keep you from tipping over and toppling down Oldsmobile.
Turbo, R, RR
These mean slightly different things, but they’re all about power. Turbo is pretty straightforward. It means…you guessed it - there’s a turbo on your rig. R and RR just signal power ratings. More Rs, more power. The Turbo model comes in at 120 HP, the Turbo R is 172 HP, and the Turbo RR comes out of the factory at 195 HP.
With the alphabet soup out of the way, we can get to the fun stuff. With all the seat time and torture testing we’ve done, we’ve found the weak points, and know what the best modifications are, and we can get you the performance and trail-tested durability you want from your ride. Let’s get into our favorite ways to make these killer rigs even better.
The Basics: Shift Gates, Shift Knobs, and a Pull Plate
No matter which model you’ve landed on, one of the easiest upgrades you can make - and one that will change your driving experience immediately, is our Shift Gate. It doesn’t matter how you’re planning to use your rig - it’ll give you the ability to shift without taking your eyes off the trail ahead. While you’re at it, do the upgraded billet shift knob. Do these simple upgrades now; you can thank us later.
The X3 Pull Plate is a super simple upgrade that makes sense, no matter how wild you’re planning to get. We know you don’t get stuck on the trails, but when your “buddy” does, you can help “him” out. They’re factory color matched, machined at 1” for maximum durability, and they’ll fit perfectly. Whether you’re looking for recovery points, or just a secure way to keep your rig tied down on a trailer, look no further.
Suspension Kits
If you’re looking for something a little more serious, one of the best things you do to improve the comfort and capability of your X3, no matter which model you’re starting with, is to pick up one of the suspension kits we’ve been carefully specking out. These days, we’ve got a total of 5 to choose from, depending on just how wild you want to get.
If you’re just getting started, you might look at the CA Tech Level 1 Suspension Kit - it’ll get you started with front limit straps, a double shear gusset kit, a Gen 2 Pull Plate, and a set of high clearance radius rods - for either a 64” or a 72” model. It’s a solid starting point, but who wants to stop there?
As you move up through the levels, things just get better. At a Level 3 Suspension Kit, for example, you get all the lower level components, plus tie rods, rear sway bar links, lower control arms, and 300M upper and lower ball joints.
When you’re looking for the best for your rig, the CA Tech Level 5 Suspension Kit is where it’s at. Welcome to the party - you’re our kind of people. At level 5, yes, you get the parts we’ve already talked about. The fun comes with all the extras - with upper and lower control arms, and trailing arms, you’ll have the capability you want, and the durability you need to survive maximum abuse when you’re on trails or tearing through the dunes. You know it’s legit, because we’re backing it up with a lifetime warranty. You think you’re too hard on your parts? Challenge accepted.
If you’re not ready to go all out with the suspension, though - we get it. And we know we’ll talk to you later this year about it. In the meantime, though, there are some parts that you should probably look at beefing up before you get too far into the middle of nowhere and find yourself stuck. One of the most common failure points on the Can-Am Maverick X3 is the OEM control arms. The CA Tech Boxed Upper and Lower Control Arms take durability out of the question, with almost over engineered CNC construction, and pre-installed bushings. You can even choose the color you want your arms. They look good, they perform perfectly, and they’ll take whatever you can throw at them.
No matter what model Can-Am Maverick X3 you decide to take into the wild, we’ve got real ways to make it better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great when you’re out on the trails, shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. The ultimate in American-made reliability from CA Tech can get you what you need. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand with the info you need. ]]>The most common models that you’ll see on the market as of the 2023 are variants of the Honda Talon 1000 - there’s the R, the X, and X-4 with each model having the option to upgrade to FOX Live Valve Shocks. So then, what’s the difference? Let’s dive into it.
Starting with the Talon 1000R, with this model you’ll be set up to take on the wide open desert, dry lake beds, or tear up a pasture (provided you own it or got permission - we aren’t responsible for any wild decisions y'all might be making). That being said, running at high speeds and in open spaces is what the Honda Talon 1000R was made to do. It’s got a wider track width and can capably handle (reasonably) rough terrain at those higher speeds. The Talon 1000X, on the other hand, is better for tight trails and steep climbs - it’s designed for maximum maneuverability and offers incredibly precise handling. With its narrow track width, tough trails are not a problem.
The Honda Talon 1000X-4 brings all the X capabilities to the table, but it does have a slightly longer wheelbase, and seats a total of 4 riders. With any of these models, you can also upgrade to the FOX live valve suspension system. For some extra coin, your suspension will automatically read how much dampening you’re using every 5 milliseconds, making fine tuning adjustments along the way. When we say, “it can handle whatever you throw at it,” what we really mean is, “it’s going to calibrate every step of the way and adjust the system accordingly.” It’s pretty incredible tech. You might be thinking, “how do you improve on an already great suspension system?” We’re so glad you asked.
Just because something is good, doesn’t mean it can’t be better - here’s a few of our favorite upgrades for the Honda Talon, no matter which model you land on.
Upper and Lower Control Arms
When you’re tearing up the trails, your factory control arms can take a pretty good beating. We’ve found all the weak points, and fixed them with our Upper and Lower Control Arms. Using USA made steel that is laser cut and CNC bent in-house, we’ve ensured that strength and durability concerns can be left in the past. They’ve got pre-installed bushings to help make installation easy, and those bushings are 25% larger than stock so you can trust them to last a really long time.
High Clearance Radius Arms
Even the most cautious riders will eventually have some alignment issues - and let’s be real - who wouldn’t want to limit how often it’s a problem? Whether it’s too much airtime, or catching a rock around a tight corner - when you knock out your rig’s alignment, you’ll be looking for some more serious answers to keep things straight. Our recommendation? Check out the High Clearance Radius Rods from CA Tech. Being the largest rods on the market, their size gives additional strength and stability so you won’t wind up fighting to control the steering wheel, dealing with unnecessary breakage, or the extra wear on other components that smaller rods can often cause. With a lifetime warranty and American-made quality, you can trust that the first time you upgrade is the last time you’ll need to mess with your Talon’s radius rods.
Pull Plates
When you’re spending time on the trails, getting stuck is half the fun. Staying stuck on the other hand? That’s a real stick in the mud. We’ve got a solution that will get you unstuck and back to the good times. The Honda Talon Pull Plate from CA Tech can help save you from the sticky stuff, whether you got there intentionally or not. Why upgrade to our pull plate when they come from the factory with a tow point? Unfortunately, the factory tow point is weak, and it’s a pain in the rear to access and use. The last thing anyone wants is more frustration when you’re bogged down in the woods. Our pull plate offers better-than-factory fitment, and can be color matched to almost any color to fit the look of your rig.
Use it to securely tie your Talon down on a trailer, or to yank a buddy out, either way you’ll quickly see the benefits of adding one to your set-up. Did we mention it has our lifetime warranty and like everything else we make? - It’s super straightforward. If you break it, call us. You could just send us an email, but we’re going to want to hear the story of how you managed to break the thing. In the end, we just like trail stories -but we’ll get you a new one right away.
Shift Gate
With the CA Tech Gear Selector Shift Gate, you can expect full shifting ability without ever taking your eyes off the trail ahead. It’s got an easy to use gated shift between reverse and forward, with one section for forward to reverse in “low” and one section for forward to reverse in “high.” You can trust its strength and durability since it’s made from aircraft grade 6061 T6 Aluminum and it’s easy to install as it comes with all the hardware you need and doesn’t take any cutting or extra modification. Honestly, our shift gate might be your favorite upgrade on the list.
Suspension Package
If you’re the kind of rider who’s ready to just hit the ground running - we’ve got you covered with the Honda Talon R Full Suspension Package. In that package, we’ve got your upper and lower control arms, high clearance radius rods, a pull plate, a shift plate, rear sway bar links, and tie rods. We can pretty much guarantee that once you get into the upgrades from CA Tech, you’ll be upgrading every part we support anyway. Weak points? Never heard of ‘em.
No matter what model Honda Talon you decide is right for your adventures, we’ve got real ways to make it better. Keeping your rig functional and looking great when you’re out on the trails shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. With the American-made reliability from CA Tech, you and your Honda Talon can get you what you need to push the limits. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know what parts you might want to check out next, CA Tech has the experts on hand ready to help. ]]>While the Polaris RZR might be one of the popular models in the UTV market, it can be tough to figure out which one is right for you. Let’s take a quick look at what’s available now, and why you might consider each model.
The Polaris RZR Trail and Trail S are the smallest, most trail-friendly RZRs in the adult-sized lineup from Polaris. While they both are available in similar trim levels - including Ultimate and Premium packages that offer optional sound systems upgrades, different suspension setups, and more - the biggest difference is the trail width of these models. The RZR Trail comes in at just 50” wide - narrow enough to tackle the tightest trails you might come across. The Trail S, on the other hand, comes in at 60” wide - still narrow enough for most trails, and with a little more power and suspension travel to tear down the trails with even more ease.
While both have the ability to tow up to 1,500 pounds, neither one has a great way of getting it done. Luckily for you, the team here at CA Tech has already worked out the details. If you’ve somehow managed to get these machines stuck on the trail, good luck getting pulled out. The good news is that with the CA Tech pull plate, we can help you adjust to whatever you need to get done - whether it’s pulling someone out of a sticky situation on the trail, or doing some work around your hunting property.
With the CA Tech BAMF Pull Plate, you can swap out the attachments and use the tow hook or tow loop for recovery on the trail.
Yes, BAMF stands for…that. We know what our pull plate is capable of thanks to its billet aluminum construction, and we know what kind of chaos y’all get into. This BAMF will get you and your buddies out of a situation, and back on the trail having a great time. Just swap out the attachments for what you need, when you need it.
The Polaris RZR XP has become the standard for performance and power in the side-by-side business, but the RZR Pro XP takes it to a whole new level. Both are powerful, but the Pro XP has a 181hp 910cc engine, versus the 110 hp 999cc that comes standard in the XP 1000. The Pro has more going power, more stopping power (see: upgraded brakes), and a more capable upgraded suspension.
When it comes to that upgraded suspension, the difference between these two machines starts to become pretty substantial - high clearance A-arms bring more travel to the table, and more adjustable shocks (with Position Sensitive Spiral Technology and QS3 compressions adjusters) mean a more comfortable, more capable ride. Radius rods in the rear up the suspension game even further, helping to keep your alignment straight and your rig together.
Even if you choose the Pro XP, you’ll want to start upgrading that suspension in no time - especially if some airtime or catching a rock knocks your wheels out of alignment. We’ve got you covered. Check out the High Clearance Radius Rods from CA Tech. They’re the largest rods on the market, and that means you’re not going to wind up fighting the steering wheel, fighting breakage, or fighting extra wear on other components. With a lifetime warranty and American-Made quality, you can trust that the first time you upgrade is the last time you’ll need to mess with your radius rods.
If you’re looking for an apples-to-apples comparison between the Turbo R and the Pro R, the premium trim level is a great way to get a look at just how different these two models can be. While both offer outstanding performance straight from the factory with more power, suspension capability, and trail performance than the other models we’ve looked at so far - the difference between these two high-performance models is pretty staggering. The Turbo R makes 181 hp thanks to a turbocharged engine, which is nothing to turn your nose up at. The Pro R basically saw that number and said “hold my beer.” With 225hp straight from the factory, the Pro R is a killer machine. It gives you a few driving modes to choose from, and Baja mode is next level - instant acceleration on the trails and the suspension to take on the wildest whoops in the desert without blinking an eye. All that power and the driving modes are not available in the Turbo R, so in our minds - if you’re choosing between the two - go for the Pro, and don’t think twice about it. It’s worth every penny.
Once you bring that RZR Pro R home, and you’re ready to make some tweaks, give the team at CA Tech a call. Even though the Pro R is great, we can make it better. Our top pick for the already-great RZR Pro R is an upgraded set of Trailing Arms. (Soon to be Released) We’ve used all the factory geometry for mounting points, so installation is easy. The components are all top-of-the-line (think FK Uniballs), and we can give over 2.5” of usable ground clearance to your Pro R. Yes, it was great you bought it. And yes, we can still make it better.
No matter what model Polaris RZR you land on, we’ve got real ways to make it better. Keeping your Polaris RZR functional and looking great when you’re out on the trails (or tending to the work on your property), shouldn’t get in the way of a good time. The American-Made reliability from CA Tech can get you what you need. If you’re looking for advice, need help with an install, or just don’t know which parts you might need, CA Tech has experts on hand to help.

ATVs were the fun-mobile of the last century, but the new style Side-By-Side UTVs have really gained in popularity. Not too terribly long ago, the UTVs were merely a barn utility tool used by farmers and ranchers. Today, they have transformed into one of the most exhilarating ways to rip through the trail without having to stand in line for the roller coaster at an overheated concrete amusement park. The term UTV stands for Utility Task Vehicle (or OHV - Off Highway Vehicle) and they are designed for rugged adventure. Can-am, manufactures one of the most popular lines of these vehicles, and aftermarket technology is adding incredible safety and rigidity to the mix. Most owners elect to add products that reinforce the suspension such as the Can-am Maverick X3 Suspension Limit Straps system.
There are many reasons why UTVs took over the market faster than expected. They are more comfortable than an ATV or any other OHV, cheaper to own and maintain than expensive sport utilities (SUV), and more capable on rugged adventurous rides. This one-two punch combination will mean UTVs are the light-weight off-road kings of the future. There is another reason why UTVs are considered a better option than ATVs. They are one of the few off-road-oriented vehicles that allow people to ride aggressively yet safely with their whole family. Much of that security can be attributed to the rigid frame surrounding the occupants. But what protects the vehicle itself? One of the most cost effective and easily installed solutions is a Suspension Limiting System with a Billet Shock Tower Brace, Frame Gusset Plate and Suspension Limiting Straps.
The suspension is what connects the driver to Terra firma. It is a combination of tires, shock absorbers, linkages, rods, braces and springs that form a connection to the wheels and support the relative motion among them. It is the major component system that smooths out the ride on rough roads and keeps the vehicle upright on tight turns. At speed, the suspension can over extend, pushing the axle components beyond their breaking point and leave you stranded. The solution, install a Can-Am Suspension Limit Strap System to maximize contact between the tires and road surface to promote steering stability and better handling. It also limits the impact of road condition on the vehicle and the passengers inside.
Combined with the Shock Tower Brace and Frame Gusset Plate, the suspension strap strengthens up the front end and limits front end deflection while protecting the radiator and fan while providing a mounting point for the Limit Straps. After adding this system to your Can-am X3 you will:
Want to insure you have the best suspension limiting system? There are many options on the market, but CA Technologies USA (catechusa.com) manufactures the highest quality UTV parts and delivers nothing less than complete customer satisfaction. CA Technologies USA created this video to show you how simple it is to install the front limit straps on a Can-Am X3.
Because Can-Am produces a quality UTV, it stands to reason that Can-am X3 customers go out of their way to make sure that their UTV has quality, reliable aftermarket components. X3 owners use their vehicles for many different activities including hunting, farming, racing, rock crawling, winter riding, trail riding, and mud bogging. And all these activities have inherent risks to the rider, passenger and to the machine. The Can-Am Suspension Limit Strap System with Shock Tower Brace and Frame Gusset Plate ensures that your ride is much safer and easier on the suspension components, wherever your day takes you.
What CA Tech USA provides is unmatched in the industry. You can’t just rely on every company when it comes to the safety of your fun. That’s why CA Technologies USA makes sure that they keep rider safety in every product they develop, manufacture and sell.
Do you want to save your money on expensive axle replacement and to save the shock absorbers from bottoming out? Get ahead of the curve with the authentic CA Tech USA parts (@catechusa) installed on your vehicle. With the Can-Am Suspension Limit Strap System, the axle and suspension component will be protected and it will prevent the overextension of the suspension system. Using an easy to install kit, they will make sure that the shocks, axle, steering component, and other parts are protected and don’t have excessive wear from overextension.
CATechUSA’s unique design for the Can-Am Suspension Limit Strap System incorporates a billet aluminum shock tower brace, a shock tower gusset plate as well as the limit straps for the front of the vehicle. The shock tower brace, manufactured from solid 6061 Billet Aluminum, provides relocation for the shocks without modification as well as a mount for the front straps. The Rear Limit Straps incorporate the use of the OEM shock bolt locations and come with a shock cord system integrated into the design. No more need to zip tie the straps to the vehicles springs! To provide an even higher quality and a longer lasting finish, CA Tech USA also incorporates a unique hard coat anodize process where the billet parts are treated with the ceramic infused mixture.
The straps are produced using high strength webbing material similar to seatbelts in all OEM manufacturing. To raise the bar of protection, they add a double layer of sewn material on the straps. You will be amazed to know that the straps are over designed to handle the load strength of 12,000 pounds. So, you can rely on this Limit Strap System to protect your Can-Am X3 in just about any condition.
