  •  OCOTILLO WELLS STATE VEHICULAR RECREATION AREA, BORREGO SPRINGS, CA - A three hour drive from Los Angeles is Ocotillo Wells Recreation Area with more than eighty-five thousand acres of desert in which to explore with your ATV, UTV, SXS or other OHV.

  •  HEBER DUNES SVRA, HOLTVILLE, CA - A little over three and a half our drive from LA is Huber Dunes SVRA (State Vehicle Recreation Area).  This local is only a few miles from the Mexican border so you can't pitch a tent, but you can play all day!

  •  CLAY PIT SVRA, OROVILLE, CA - The longest trek from Los Angeles, Clay Pit SVRA is a 7 hour drive.  This location may be the place to take the kids for a scenic drive and a few hours of UTV riding before pitching camp.  Not nearly as much open expanse as some of the other California destinations mentioned here,  but plenty of UTV, SXS and other 4x4 fun none the less.
